Mount Beauty The Name Says It All

Located in the High Country of Victoria at the Southern end of beautiful Kiewa Valley sits the picturesque village of Mount Beauty. This beautiful little town sits at the base of the state's highest Mountain, Mount Bogong. One of the state's most popular holiday towns sits just to the West and that is the town of Bright. Sitting among the gorgeous backdrop of this Alpine area Mount Beauty's name says it all.

Now to get to this beautiful village there are a couple of routes that you can travel. The Southern route travels along the scenic and lovely Kiewa Valley Highway. Offering many scenic viewing areas you will not want to pass up. There is one more route if you happen to be traveling from that great town of Bright. The Tawonga Road goes over the the valley where you can enjoy just as many stunning vistas. Two of the amazing lookouts are Sullivan Lookout and the incredible Tawonga Gap.

The true magic of this area will be realized when you see this quaint village. Surrounded by the Alpine National Park with it's lakes, snowfields and forests. The park offers the visitors a scenic backdrop no matter where in this sleepy town you happen to be. The center of town has several very nice parks and an abundance of shops that can be found along Hollands Street and Kiewa Crescent. So make sure you plan for a day of picnics or shopping.

The array of activities at the National Park are almost too many to list. If you like the high energy of Mountain Bike riding the forest has many treks that will keep you busy. There are also many hiking trails that gets you surrounded by all the beauty nature has to offer. Horseback riding offers another way to see the forest trails at a slow pace without all the exercise. If fishing is your passion then you will want to check out the river. Sit back relax and enjoy the magnificent views has you cast your lines for the "Big One". Winter time offers even more fun. Falls Creek has many runs that you will want to check out so be sure to bring your skis and snowboards.

The fertile Kiewa Valley offers a bountiful harvest to the farmers that live there. Fresh produce can be found at the welcoming farm gates. Take advantage of what the great earth produced. The valley also boasts wineries many offer sparking wines and Pinot Noir. All of which you will find delicious. Check out the French flare that the menus boast while you are there. There will be no disappointed guests there. Pack some extra bottles of wine to take home.

There are some major events that take place through out the year in the Mount Beauty area. A great music festival called Mountain Music Muster for the music lovers. For the snow lovers the Kangaroo Hoppet XC Ski Race. Come and watch or join in the race. The National Mountain Bike Championship is held here also and will be an exciting event and a great excuse to come for a visit.
